Umoya Photography

I am a Mom, a Photographer, and all-round juggler, balancing my time between my boisterous boys and my passion for photography.

What does “Umoya” mean? Directly translated it means “Spirit” in Xhosa. Why?  It defines my style, and this best describes the beauty of it:  Some African cultures believe that when you take someone’s picture, you are in essence capturing their spirit...  Through my informal lifestyle approach, this is what I strive to achieve – capturing intimate moments, spontaneous laughter and cherished memories, mostly whilst you aren’t aware of anyone watching.

For those after a more styled approach, my affordable pricing structure lends well to those considering hiring a second shooter (me!) to capture the more candid blink-and-you-will-miss-it moments over and above the formal events of the day.
